tsaC : threonylcarbamoyl-AMP synthase [1]

Several transfer RNAs require modifications to provide maximal fidelity during protein synthesis. TsaC generates the labile threonylcarbamoyl-AMP (TC-AMP) for the tRNA adenosine(37) N(6)-threonylcarbamoyltransferase complex to use as a substrate in the modification of certain tRNAs. TsaC condenses carbon dioxide, threonine and ATP to create TC-AMP which spontaneously decomposes back into substrates within minutes unless channeled to tRNA-bound threonylcarbamoyltransferase.
