trnaI : tRNA-IleCAU
Modifications: [1]
• cytidine(34) → lysylcytidine(34)
Transfer RNA coding elements are organized in up to eleven loci in Staphylococcus aureus. This tRNA-IleCAU is from Locus V and, as transcribed, shares an anticodon sequence with tRNA-Met. The unique lysylcytidine(34) posttranslational modification performed by TilS as well as TilS-mediated proper isoleucyl charging of the tRNA allows this modified isoacceptor-anticodon to recognize the isoleucine codon AUA. Please note, this tRNA was not included in the panel used to detect tRNA posttranslational modifications in Staphylococcus aureus ; therefore, we are only including the known lysylcytidine modification. Other modifications are likely but not verified at this time.
