Chemotaxis-inhibiting protein CHIPS is a component of the immune evasion module found on hlb-converting prophage that is a major contributor to human pathogenic potential. CHIPS specifically neutralizes C5a and formylated peptide receptors (FPRs) on monocytes and neutrophils. By blocking these receptors, CHIPs prevents chemotaxis and initiation of pro-inflammatory cascades.
