• Staphylococcus aureus produces two highly-similar methionine import-like ABC transporters with different substrate specificities. This version is specific for methionine. The other version transports glycylmethionine dipeptides.
• There is a satellite pathogenicity island attB "prophage" attachment site within the 3' end of the metQ coding sequence.
