strand, strand coordinates and synteny blocks are properties which come from an artificially constructed pan genome molecule which contains all S.aureus genes with the core, dispensible and orphan genes. The synteny block defines long conserved regions on the chromosome and serve as the basis for the generation of standardized gene coordinates and standard gene directions.
